The heparin complicated things because it needed to be in my system long enough to protect my daughter, but out of my system long enough that I wouldn't bleed out. By scheduling a c-section, we could control when I came off of the heparin. Also, due to some of the auto-immune issues, she was at increased risk of "fetal demise" and they weren't sure how she would tolerate labor. Again, the c-section was the safer option.
