Should you ever doubt my commitment to the cats, look here

Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is liver. Though the veterinarian and I still doubt that Guinness’ problems are due to a thiamine deficiency (the MRI diagnosis from the U.K.), he is continuing to get daily thiamine injections. I want to do as much as I can for him, so I decided to supplement his diet with liver (high in thiamine).

I went to the store, found some liver, cooked it up, and guess who won’t eat it? That’s right, the two, four-legged creatures living in my house.

I can’t say that I blame them; it smells foul. Anyone need ¾ of a package of liver?

  1. You're certainly devoted! Our childhood and totally beloved cat used to love liver and we ( vegetarians that we are ) used to cook it up regularly! Sorry that the cats turned up their noses! Thinking of you all :) ((( hugs))))

  2. Mmmmhh well, have you tried to mix it a bit with their normal food? I suppose so. Hun, I really hope Guinness will get better, you certainly have done all you can. Much love and cuddles to the cats from our two cats over here! Fran

  3. ROFLMAO! Cats will lick garbage cans. If they won't eat the liver, I'd say it's not meant for comsumption. Lol! =)

  4. That is too funny! I'm sorry they won't eat it, but it is funny they won't touch it. I'm with them, though. Liver is just nasty. Many good thoughts are coming to you from Seattle. I hope the situation gets resolved soon, and I mean that in a positive way. We love our pets.

  5. Yeah liver sucks and they are so smart! My cats would never get it as I could not bear the smell if I had to cook it. Funny enough though my babies like to eat certain cooked veggies and they love lentil soup. Hope G is getting better, give him a big hig from us all here.

  6. I LOVE liver. Sharkey likes it as chopped liver, mixed with sauteed unions and chopped hard-boiled eggs. Oh, and my cats love lentil soup, too.

    All the best to Guinness!

  7. We had a liver boil every Friday night when our dog had cancer and had become anemic. Yep, boiled up a pound of liver at a time, and she loved it. She even loved it raw. We even made liver jerky in the oven, but boy oh boy, did the house smell. Good luck with Guinness!
